LOVE YOUR HOSPITAL

This sponsorship proposal is intended to outline the kind and generous offer of Regis Removals to support our St Richard’s Hospital Children’s ward play room with a monthly supportive donation towards art, play and creative materials for children who are being treated at the hospital for short, mid and long term illness requiring hospitalisation.

The children that say at St Richard’s hospital as ‘in patients’ range from around 1 year to 19 years so have a range of requirements.

‘Play’ in its broadest term is used for all of our children and young people as both a distraction tool and a comfort tool.

The prospect of Regis Removals supporting our children and young people is an exciting and valuable one and we are extremely keen for this partnership to commence, not simply for the monetary donation but also for the friendship and long term relationship that will be created and nurtured.

Distraction:  We employ two play specialists per hospital to engage with our children and young people in a range of play and activities.  These activities are especially important when used as a ‘distraction’ tool.  This is primarily used when children are undergoing injections, therapy or manipulations which can be painful and distressing.  Our play specialists also engage with our children prior to them going down to surgery to ease anxiety and distract them from the ‘waiting time’, they also travel with the children from the ward to Theatre’s so any tool they can use to ease the anxiety, stress and fear of the children is invaluable.

Comfort:  It is generally unknown in the public arena that the NHS treat thousands of ‘Long Term’ patients, in our children’s wards we treat many ‘repeat patients’. These patients become our ‘family’ and for the children receiving long term cancer treatments or treatments for complex conditions such as Cystic Fibrosis, we need to encourage a ‘home from home’ atmosphere.  Whilst we cannot install sofas and the home environment within our hospital wards, the addition of games, toys, puzzles, paper, crayons, paints, DVD’s, cd’s and gaming products enables our children and young adults the ability to feel more relaxed and less anxious.

A Typical Day…

GENERAL

The Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust are two acute general hospitals and one local general hospital serving the whole of West Sussex. With sites at Worthing Hospital, St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester and Southlands Hospital in Shoreham by Sea. We are committed to providing excellent facilities for patients and staff but there’s always more to do, that’s why the charity exists to ensure “That patients receive the best and most modern treatment”. That their stay is made as comfortable as possible, and “That staff have the best working environment in order to provide first class patient care”.

Most wards in each of the three hospitals have their own fund and donations from patients and visitors alike are always welcomed. The money will then be managed by the charity to ensure that all donations are carefully recorded, thanked and invested until required. We run a range of fundraising initiatives from recycling to overseas events, organising skydives to the lottery and general fundraising.

We support all of our fundraisers in their efforts and are always so grateful to those who help raise money for our hospitals, help us to help you “Love your Hospitals”.

We fundraise for all three hospitals but assure you that money raised for St Richard’s is only spent on St Richard’s, money raised for Worthing only spent on Worthing and money raised for Southlands only spent on Southlands. We keep all of our fundraising and funds separate.
